A lot of people have pretty strong feelings about which candidate they support for President. However if you’re like most teens, you might not know where you stand on the issues, let alone who you would support. Are you more conservative or more liberal? Do you support big government or do you prefer less regulation? Fortunately, there are several good surveys on the Internet that may help you determine your political leaning:
World’s Smallest Political Quiz:
The World’s Smallest Political Quiz is just that – a quick and dirty survey that gauges your political leaning. The quiz only takes 2 minutes to fill out and is relatively easy to understand. Your results are shown on a grid that displays where your viewpoints tend to lean. However, the site does have some issues. Although the organization that created the quiz (Advocates for Self-Government) claims that they wanted to create a more accurate political survey, the questions are inherently biased due to the libertarian nature of the group.
The Political Compass:
The Political Compass is another survey that uses a grid to display your political leaning. The questions are easy to comprehend and the site layout is relatively smooth and problem-free. However, unlike the previous survey, the Political Compass is a long survey with a variety of questions that may take up to a half-hour to fill out. In addition, the backing organization that created the quiz is nowhere to be found on the website. One of the interesting features of the site, though, is that you can compare your quiz results with some famous world leaders like the Dalai Lama and George W. Bush.
Political Typology:
This last survey, unlike the other two previous surveys, was created by a research institution that compiled the views of voters who participated the 2004 election. However, the survey is relatively long with 25 questions that touch base on a variety of topics. In addition, the way in which the survey questions are set up may be confusing. The results of the survey, though, are more comprehensive than the results presented by the other two sites. Rather than using a grid to show your leaning, this survey places you into one of nine groups based on your answers. The profile of each group is extremely encompassing, containing data on how the group stands on issues relative to the general public as well as data on how individuals belonging to this group voted in the last election.
With the election rolling around, knowing your political leaning is more important than ever. However, you must remember that while a survey on the Internet can possibly give you an idea as to where you stand, in the end your personal beliefs are the true determinants of your political leaning.
