I know we are all counting down the days until summer vacation. But when summer comes along, what do you plan on doing?
I've been doing some research of my own to figure out an answer to that very question. I've discovered that the DC area has a lot to offer if you are interested in summer camps. From enrichment programs to sports and the arts, you’re bound to find something that interests you. Tip: Once you know what camp you want to attend, you might want to sign up early as camps do fill up quickly.
Here are a few places where you can search for the perfect camp (or camps) to pass your summer days:
Sports Camps: Many area colleges such as George Mason University, American University and Georgetown University offer camps for a variety of sports, such as tennis, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, field hockey, soccer, baseball, softball and many more. (Note: On the American Website, you have to look at each sport individually by clicking on the sports tab on the left side. For example, for field hockey you have to go to the field hockey site, and on the right side in a red box you'll see a PDF on their camps).
George Mason University’s Other Camps: If sports aren’t for you, George Mason also offers great camps for theater, dance and cooking, and hosts a debate institute program. But these are just a few camps that George Mason has to offer. Check out the complete listing at http://summercamps.gmu.edu/.
Arlington County camps: From acting to arts to sports and more, Arlington County also offers a great variety of camps. For more information, go to http://www.arlingtonva.us/departments/ParksRecreation/scripts/camps/page60885.aspx#sports.
