And Glee has come to Yorktown.
About a month ago, halfway through the first season of the new hit show, Glee, a few students at Yorktown High School decided to try and start a Glee Club. Cam Mellin, a sophomore at Yorktown who was one of the students whom decided to found the club, says, “We started the club to sing and dance and have a good time. There isn’t really a club or group like Glee at Yorktown. Yeah there is choir but we wanted to

Glee Club practices throughout the week, and their choice of music ranges from ‘N Sync to BeyoncĂ© to Usher to Taylor Swift. They will be performing at most Tuesday night basketball games, but hope to get some Friday night games as well if the Yorktown dance team permits. Cam explains, “When we are performing, our main goal is to deliver a performance with great vocals, good dancing and plenty of energy. We also try to put our own spin on some old and new songs with some cool backbeats, solos, chorus, and flare.”
Come out some night and watch Glee club perform! They work hard and deserve a good audience. Cam promises, “Look, bottom line with Glee is this: no matter what song we do, how we sing it, or how it is performed, you will always think it is hot.”
