The H-B Woodlawn Halloween of 09

by Liza

The morning before Halloween at H-B Woodlawn began like most other days with the early 8:20 class, though perhaps views of lessons were obstructed in part by costumed students cramming into their seats. The real celebration began at the official school opening of 9:24, the beginning of the annual Halloween double activity block.

It was during these couple of hours that the annual HBW festivities took place, with activities ranging from deep-rooted traditions like Galileo's pumpkin drop (demonstrating of course that pumpkins of different weights will fall at the same speed) to newer ones like the Halloween Olympics that demonstrated such incredible feats as weaving pumpkins through a human chain and eating suspended donuts.

In the less-public hallways and outdoor settings, such shenanigans such as Pokemon battles, the execution of Julius Caesar, and even the numerous interruptions of Taylor Swift by Kanye West were rumored to have occurred. The mornings celebrations eventually faded into an afternoon of more classes, though an occasional wild thing could still be spotted every so often.
